Three words. That\u2019s all we had.<\/p>\n

Fa\u2019aora. Fa\u2019atupu. Fa\u2019atura.<\/p>\n

To heal. To grow. To honor.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s rare for a brief to fit in three words. Rarer still that they\u2019re enough.<\/p>\n

When the Presidency of French Polynesia trusted us with their 2025 New Year\u2019s card, we understood very quickly that the point wasn\u2019t to make something beautiful. It was to make something sacred.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the beginning<\/h2>\n

So we let ourselves be guided by the stories we were told before drifting off to the land of dreams. In the beginning, there was nothing. Then came the song of creation \u2014 Kumulipo<\/em> among the Hawaiians, Tumu i te p\u014d<\/em> among the Tahitians. A song that holds the origin of the world and the place the living are given in it. Our three words were the children of that song.<\/p>\n

The video<\/h2>\n

For the video, we wove 2D animation \u2014 to root the message in tradition \u2014 with 3D, to carry that tradition into the present. The three words unfold their meaning in it, image after image, in a choreography we wanted slow.<\/p>\n

But video scrolls past. And these words needed to leave a trace in the hands of those who would receive them.<\/p>\n

The music<\/h2>\n

The card<\/h2>\n

For the card, we chose a triptych. Three panels. A physical object that unfolds \u2014 and by its very nature, imposes a tempo.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve grown used to instant greetings. Everything moves so fast now. The attention economy has accelerated everything \u2014 including the moments that deserved to be slow. The triptych resists that. You open it. The gesture takes time. And each unfolding reveals something else.<\/p>\n

On the outside, a starlit sky. The Polynesian sky \u2014 the one our ancestors read to cross the Ocean.<\/p>\n

You open it. At the center, a golden canoe \u2014 a sacred sail ringed by the phases of the moon, like a ritual compass.<\/p>\n

You unfold further. A full sky map appears. The constellations are named in both languages \u2014 Orion \/ Taurua o mere ma tutahi<\/em>, the Pleiades \/ Matarii<\/em>, the Southern Cross \/ Tahua<\/em>. And in the middle of these stars, Scorpius \u2014 which we call Matau Nui<\/em> here, the great hook. M\u0101ui\u2019s hook<\/strong>, still up there, hanging in the sky as it always has.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s on that sky that we inscribed, in letters of gold, the President\u2019s message. A message that doesn\u2019t float in the void of a generic greeting card \u2014 a message set among the stars that guided our ancestors.<\/p>\n

And then you turn the object over. On the back, the T\u0101rena 2025<\/strong> \u2014 the Polynesian lunar calendar. So that this object wouldn\u2019t be a card looked at once, but a companion that follows its owner all year long.<\/p>\n

Three words in the video. An entire sky in the hand.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what we wanted to offer those who would receive these wishes: not a wish, but an orientation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\n\t\t
